As stated in the official announcement by Sayda Makawi, this transformation comes in response to the organization’s expanding role in addressing global humanitarian needs. While the group’s origins focused heavily on supporting the Sudanese community, its scope has broadened to include aid for individuals and communities affected by crises worldwide.
“Our new name, Humanitarian Aid Network, better captures our commitment to delivering aid, support, and resources to those in need—regardless of location or background,” said Makawi. “We remain dedicated to our ongoing work in Sudan while strengthening our capacity to respond to humanitarian emergencies globally.”
The organization's core mission remains unchanged: to alleviate human suffering, promote human dignity, and support resilience in times of crisis. The name change will also help facilitate greater collaboration with other nonprofits, governments, and stakeholders working in the humanitarian sector.
